On a yearly basis, ENSIE plays an active role in the European Semester process by monitoring key policy packages, analysing relevant policy developments for Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs), and equipping its members with tools and knowledge to engage in national-level advocacy. Indeed, ENSIE provides timely analysis of the Autumn and Spring Packages issued by the European Commission, including country-specific recommendations (CSRs), and shares tailored country fiches and policy positions. These materials aim to support members in influencing national policies to better address employment, social inclusion, and the needs of vulnerable groups. ENSIE also organises capacity-building sessions, such as webinars and workshops, to strengthen members’ understanding of the Semester and its relevance for the social economy and being involved in the policy-creation processes at EU and national levels.
Beyond analysis and advocacy support, ENSIE fosters direct engagement with EU and national policymakers. It facilitates exchanges between its members and European Semester Officers (ESOs) and desk officers, encouraging dialogue on how national reforms can better support WISEs. ENSIE also tracks developments in fiscal policies, such as the Mid-Term Fiscal Structural Plans (MTFSPs), and the implementation of National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRPs), ensuring that the voice of civil society is considered in budgeting and policy decisions. Through these activities, ENSIE ensures that WISEs and the inclusion of disadvantaged groups remain visible priorities within the EU’s economic and social governance framework.
This webinar aims to offer ENSIE members a space for discussion to better understand the benefits of engaging in the European Semester process at both national and EU levels, while also providing an opportunity to exchange good practices and inspire broader participation.
