ENSIE, the European Network of Work Integration Social Enterprises, has launched its Annual Report 2025, presenting a year of key achievements, policy engagement, member support and European cooperation in favour of more inclusive labour markets.

The report highlights ENSIE’s work throughout 2025 to strengthen the recognition of Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs) at European level, in a context marked by labour shortages, social inequalities, the green and digital transitions, and the first policy developments of the new EU mandate.

In his foreword, ENSIE President Duncan Walker underlines the continued importance of the network’s mission, recalling that ENSIE has consistently championed and supported the recognition and development of WISEs across changing political and economic contexts. He also stresses that, despite current challenges for the social economy sector, “the WISE sector continues to prove its resilience”.

In 2025, ENSIE continued to advocate for stronger European policy frameworks supporting WISEs. The network contributed to the mid-term review of the Social Economy Action Plan, worked on the European Semester, and promoted a more inclusive vision of quality employment through the Joint Statement “How to make quality jobs for everyone?”, which brought together 39 co-signatories.

The Annual Report also showcases ENSIE’s role as a support network for its members. In 2025, ENSIE welcomed six new members, organised capacity-building activities, and involved members in strategic discussions on the network’s priorities for 2025–2028.

A major milestone of the year was the launch of the European WISE Alliance in Barcelona, building on the work of the B-WISE project and creating a dedicated space for cooperation, exchange and long-term sectoral advocacy, particularly around skills development.

The report also reflects ENSIE’s engagement in EU-funded projects such as DIGIT-ABLE, GreenBoost4WISEs and WISESHIFT, supporting WISEs in strengthening digital capacity, promoting greener practices and building evidence on their role in inclusive and sustainable socio-economic transformation.

Looking ahead to 2026, ENSIE’s 25th anniversary year, Duncan Walker recalls the Irish adage “Lots done, more to do”, reaffirming the network’s commitment to promoting the vital role of WISEs in communities across Europe.

ENSIE invites policymakers, members, partners, social economy stakeholders and the wider public to read the Annual Report 2025 and discover the network’s contribution to building a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable Europe.
