Consultation on an EU Pillar of Social Rights

President Juncker announced the establishment of a European Pillar of Social Rights in his State of the Union address in the European Parliament on 9 September 2015. This initiative is part of the work undertaken by the Commission for a deeper and fairer Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and part of the Commission 2016 Work Programme.

09/03/2015 - The EPSCO Council, which consists of employment, social, health and consumer policy ministers in the EU Member States, met in Brussels on 9 March and approved a number of conclusions on the European Semester 2015, the modernisation of social protection systems, and how to make labour markets more inclusive.


Communication on the results of the public consultation on the Europe 2020 strategy

March 2015 - The Commission has adopted a Communication on the results of the public consultation on the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. These results will pave the way for a review of the Europe 2020 strategy later this year, as announced in the 2015 Commission Work Programme. The Commission also published its proposals for integrated guidelines for economic and employment policies, to be adopted by the Council. In the employment integrated guidelines there is the first written reference of this Commission to social economy. Both sets of documents are important references for developing the EU's jobs and growth agenda. More info.

MEP Jean Lambert is drafting EMPL's own-initiative report responding to the European Commission's July 2014 Communication, Green Employment Initiative: Tapping into the job creation potential of the green economy, published as part of the circular economy package and asked ENSIE to highlight the three most important political demands and aspects that the European Parliament should include in its report on Green Employment with regards to fully exploiting the job potential of the green - and socially just - transition of our economies.
