The 9th edition of the ILO SSE Academy took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg from 25-29 September 2017. Over 120 participants from more than 30 countries participated in this Academy which focused on the Future of Work and exchanged experiences, best practices and challenges.
At the beginning of the year, Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker announced that he would organize a Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth with the Prime Minister of Sweden in Gothenburg on 17 November 2017. President Dassis has been invited to attend this summit.
The European Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee, the City of Gothenburg and Region Västra Götaland co-organise, on the sidelines of the Summit, an event on the role of the social economy in the future of work.
ENSIE is seeking for a communication officer for a part-time limited duration contract based in Milmort (Liège region, Belgium) in the framework of the implementation of a European project. The communication officer will be in charge of the design and implementation of the overall communication strategy of ENSIE and of the communication of a specific European project. The position covers both internal and external communication throughout the use of different platforms. We are looking for a motivated person willing to work in a multicultural environment, able to work independently but also in close collaboration with other colleagues. The successful candidate might be required to travel across Europe occasionally.

KICK OFF MEETING OF THE INNO-WISEs PROJECT

The project, financed by the Central Europe Interregional program, aims at proposing ideas, models and services that can make social enterprises more innovative and competitive by reducing the existing technological and business gap and stimulating a switch in mentality.
Launched in December 2016, this program offers solidarity-related jobs, traineeships or voluntary placements in different fields: healthcare, social integration, environmental protection, assistance for migrants and refugees, or food aid. Led by the French Public Employment Service (Pôle Emploi) and the Italian National Agency for active labour policies (ANPAL), the project aims to place 100 000 young people by 2020. Interested? In order to meet tax obligations from the EU Stability and Growth Pact, the Romanian Government has just forbidden to private firms to buy from protective employment units employing disabled people in order to achieve the employment rate stated by the law. Two solutions are left for them: direct employment through quotas or to pay fines, which could help the state finances. Nevertheless, the impact would be significant employment possibilities for social economy sector.
ENSIE thus supports Romanian civil society organisations in this regard.
This report from the ILO highlights that gender gaps that are tough and common throughout the World and points out that reducing gap is not only a question of social justice but also makes economic sense.
Young Europeans between 20 and 30 years old willing to implement a project with a civic impact can apply to participate to the FutureLab Europe Annual Forum in January 2018, when will be discussed relevant topics for the future of Europe.

The European Council agrees its position for the 2018 budget
The budget will increase compare to 2017: +7,4% for payments, due to the implementation of the 2014-2020 programs. The Council enhanced its will to focus on on young unemployment, smart, inclusive and sustainable growth, job creation, as well as security and migration.
The EESC civil society prize will take place on 7 December 2017.
The subject this year is: “Innovative projects to promote quality employment and entrepreneurship of the future of work”. This prize will reward civil society organisations and/or individuals and which aim at the labour market integration of newcomers and all the people who are distant from the labour market and require specific support.
